There's this family that regularly comes to my favourite coffee shop in the morning at the same time as I do. Parents in their mid-forties and three kids aged six to ten, I would guess. They sip their hot drinks, idly flip through the papers and chat to one another. They look that particular Notting Hill kind of cool: a bit messy, boho, casual.
It always makes me smile when I seem them, cause this is the kind of family I imagine us becoming when we have children. They seem easy and happy in eachother's company, and they have this lovely morning ritual that's just an older, more familial version of our own.

That does sound idyllic (both your coffee drinking and theirs'!).

Delightful! I sometimes wonder about people - especially the ones whose lives I crush on - and wonder if they are happy in their life or whether they crush on someone else's!
I love you blog - it's very nice to meet you!

We have a little place near us called Runcible Spoon that we love to go to with our girls. I think the trick is getting kids used to those kinds of environments early, so they aren't bulls in a china shop the first time they go. Love your writing & can't wait to read more!
